James Michael Pearce, 82, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026.

Mickey was born in Trinity on June 7, 1944 to James Carl and Thelma Josephine Pearce. He graduated from Huntsville High School. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Florence State University, later earning a Master of Arts from the University of Alabama. In addition to his career in vocational rehabilitation and as a security specialist with NASA, he served in the Alabama National Guard for over 30 years.

He married Kathryn Annie Shrout in 1966, and together they shared 60 wonderful years. Mickey enjoyed hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting, and watching the Atlanta Braves. Most of all, he loved spending time with friends and family (especially his grandchildren), and walking his granddogs.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Ashley Pica (Joseph) and Kevin Pearce; grandchildren, Kathryn Grace and Gavin; granddogs, Franklin and Wilson; brother-in-law, Rick Shrout (Kay); and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Beams “Bo” Pearce.

We are deeply grateful to the nurses and physicians of MICU at Huntsville Hospital for their extraordinary kindness shown to Mickey and our family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Holmes Street Methodist Church on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a charity of your choice.
