James Scott, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, in Huntsville, Alabama. Born on April 28, 1937, in Alabama, James lived a life marked by devotion, warmth, and an unwavering spirit that touched all who knew him.
A proud graduate of Sardis High School in Boaz, Alabama, James went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University. His commitment to service was evident early on when he answered the call of duty and served in the United States Army after being drafted. Following his military service, James built a distinguished career and retired from Boeing, where he worked with passion and dedication.
James was known not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his loving and genuine nature. He had a wonderful sense of humor that could light up any room. Those closest to him remember his caring heart and the joy he found in spending time on the golf course, embracing every opportunity to be outside and enjoy the game he loved.
He was deeply devoted to his family. James is survived by his son, Edward Ray Scott, and daughter, Karmen Johnson, along with their spouses, Donna and Nathan, respectively. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Hunter Scott, Ariana Scott, Briana Scott, Makena Clay, and Derrick Scott. The light of great-grandchildren Keaghen Ray Scott and Kohen Clay further enriches the family’s circle of love. James also leaves behind his sister, June Schlagal, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever carry his warmth and kindness in their hearts.
James’s life was shaped by the love of those who preceded him. He now rests beside his beloved wife, Geraldine “Gerri” Scott, and reunited with his parents, L.D. and Zona Scott, as well as his sister Molly Isbell—all of whom left a deep imprint on his soul.
Family and friends will come together to honor James's memory with a visitation at Berryhill Funeral Home & Crematory in Huntsville, Alabama, on May 4, 2026, from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 2:00 PM.
In reflecting on James Scott’s life, one cannot help but feel the profound impact of a man who lived with integrity, joy, and a heart full of love. His legacy endures in the countless lives he touched, and his memory will remain a treasured blessing for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
