James "Pop" Lynn Stegall, 90 of Ardmore, AL, passed away May 6, 2026, at his home with his son by his side.
He is survived by his four children, Laura Lynn Bagents (Bill), Marcia Mitchell (Charles), Eric Stegall (Angie), and Sonya Gates (Jay); his grandchildren, Leigh Black (Brad), Brandon Frazier (Kay), John Bagents (Laura), Matthew Mitchell (Morgan), Lauren Wiser (Kyle), Eliot Stegall (Sara), Tara Frazier, Nic Gates (Faith); and his great grandchildren, Charlotte "Charlie" Bagents; Jace, Pratt, and Everleigh Black; Benjaman, Charley, and William Mitchell; Brooke Frazier Wiersig (Fred) and Allie Frazier; Elaina, Noah, Emma and Ava Wiser; Atlas Hufford; Wyatt and Hailee Gates. He is survived by his brother, Charles Stegall. He is also survived by several nephews, nieces, and a host of friends.
Mr. Stegall is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Roberts Stegall; his parents, Ross and Ethel Stegall; his brothers, Allen Stegall, Robert "Bill" Stegall, John Stegall, and Olen Stegall; his sisters, Mary Jo Stegall Rodgers and Carolyn Stegall; and his grandson, Allen Bagents.
Mr. Stegall was born September 15, 1935, in Marshall County, Alabama. He worked with his family as share-crop farmers until he joined the U.S. Army, where he served in Korea. Upon returning home, he moved to Anniston, AL in 1953. He worked at Noble Signs with his brother until he moved to Huntsville in March 1965. After moving to Huntsville, he worked at Cresent Signs until opening his own J & L Sign business in 1982.
Anyone who would like to contribute may do so to Plainview Church of Christ, Plainview Cemetery, or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Berryhill Funeral Home from 9:30 to 11:00 am, with the funeral service immediately following in the chapel with Bro. Steve Hale officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery.
