Janice Corrine Brakefield Osmer, born Friday, July 27, 1951, passed away peacefully in her home in Killingsworth Cove, Alabama on Sunday, September 20, 2026. She was the cherished daughter of Ethel Brakefield Sallin and George Bernard Brakefield, who preceded her in death.

Janice was sentimental to her core, a woman whose heart was anchored in family, and steadfast in her convictions. She treasured the stories, traditions, and memories that connected the people she loved. She was a member and staunch supporter of the UAW. Her home was a gathering place filled with laughter, stories, good food, and the kind of memories that stay with you forever. With Janice, there was never a dull moment. She brought joy, humor, and a spark of fun wherever she went, and “Grana” quickly became everyone’s favorite person to be around.

For 48 years, Janice shared a beautiful love story with her husband, Steven Joe Osmer. Through every season of life, they stood side by side (sometimes head to head), creating a legacy of love that will continue through generations.

She is survived by her husband, Steven Joe Osmer; her sisters, Glenda Sartain and Nancy Hedden (Larry); her mother-in-law Marie Osmer, her two sons, who were the pride and joy of her life; Steven Blair Osmer (Sarah), Patrick Evan Osmer (Katherine), and her precious grandchildren Logan, Hayden, Annabelle, Tatum, Max, Wyatt, and Ellie. Janice is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Nothing brought Janice greater happiness than being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandchildren were her world, and she poured her whole heart into each of them. Whether celebrating milestones, sharing stories, spoiling them with love, or simply being present, she made every grandchild feel treasured and deeply loved.

Janice leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her kindness, unwavering love, infectious laughter, and the countless traditions and memories she created. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that her love remains woven into the fabric of our family.

Her legacy is one of devotion, joy, and family — a life lived fully, a heart shared generously, and a love that will continue to guide and inspire those she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Visitation services will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home from 9:30-11. The funeral service will begin at 11. Immediately following the service, her internment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.
