Jeffrey "Buddin" Eugene Hughes, Sr., 61, of Gurley, passed away October 4, 2025.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Lena Lucille Lee Hughes; father, Joe Clowdus; grandson, Andrew Jacob Hughes.

He is survived by his daughter, April Lynn Hughes; son, Jeffrey Eugene Hughes, Jr.; grandchildren, Austin, Haylee, and Liam Hughes; siblings, Danny Hughes, Bridgett Jackson, and James Meeks; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jeff worked for the city of Huntsville for Public Works. He drove a dump truck for the city for many years until his health went bad and had to retire. While driving and working for the city, he made a lot of friends along the way. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a character. He loved to cut up and make people smile and loved helping those in need. He loved to talk on the CB Radio and making friends all over places. He never met a stranger. He loved riding his motorcycle and was an avid Alabama fan. He had a huge heart and was loved by many.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 8th from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home, followed by service at 2:00.  Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
