Obituary

Jerry Linwood Gann

June 20, 2941 - August 2, 2026

Jerry Linwood Gann was born in McMinnville, Tennessee on June 20, 1941. He is preceded in death by his wife, Alma Sue Gann, his father, Howard Gann and wife Helen and his mother, Opal and husband James (Jim) Hillis, brother, Elmus Gann, and his brothers-in-law, Gene and Donald Wayne Marks.

Jerry is survived by his sons Lynn Gann and wife Angie, Mark Gann and wife Sheila, his dearly loved, seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Jo Ann Marks.

Family and friends knew him as son, brother, cousin, husband, Dad, Pops, and Paw. Jerry was a mentor to coworkers and friends. Jerry was known for having a zest for life, being quick with a joke, traveling, and keeping his vehicle "showroom" clean. Jerry enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play a variety of sports. He followed UAH basketball to support family, drove miles to watch cousins play softball or drive in car races. Jerry both supported and worked with the Fraternal Order of Police for many years. Jerry was truly a  people person and never met a stranger.

The family wishes to express a thank you to the staff at the Floyd E. Tut Fann Veteran's home. The care Jerry received while living there was very much appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Floyd E. Tut Fann State Veterans Home Benevolent Fund or to the charity of your choice in Jerry's honor.
