IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jimmy Burton
Spain
December 31, 1953 – December 22, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we remember Jimmy Burton Spain, who passed away on December 22, 2025, just shy of his 72nd birthday. Surrounded by his beloved wife, Jackie (Perry) Spain, and family from McMinnville, TN, as well as a sister from Birmingham. Jimmy transitioned peacefully after noon, enveloped in love.
Born on December 31, 1953, Jimmy proudly served in the U.S. Army, dedicating his life to service. He and Jackie found a cherished community at Monrovia Church of Christ, where he embraced the fellowship of his church family. An accomplished athlete in high school, Jimmy excelled in both football and baseball. His early leadership in junior ROTC earned him a scholarship to Tennessee Tech University, where he pursued a degree in Business Management. He and high school sweetheart Jackie married on August 30, 1975.
After commissioning in the Army in 1977, Jimmy served in roles across the globe, including as a platoon leader in Germany, a battery commander, and later as Principal Advisor for the Army National Guard and Reserve units. He deployed during the Persian Gulf War and was promoted to Major before retiring from the Army in 1995, continuing his work with the Pentagon until 1998 when he retired as a civil servant.
Jimmy was known for his sociability, being elected as the neighborhood mayor and cherished by all who knew him. He loved landscaping and
enjoyed walking their dog, Gracie.
The youngest of four siblings, he is survived by his sister Francie in Birmingham and was preceded in death by his brothers Joe and Tommy.
Celebrating 50 years of marriage in August 2025, Jimmy's legacy of kindness and warmth will be profoundly missed. His family encourages all to celebrate his life and the cherished moments shared.
Rest in peace, Jimmy; your love will live on in our hearts.
