Jimmy "Jimbo" Lamar Tyus, 75, of Huntsville, Alabama passed in his home into the arms of his Lord and Savior on April 11, 2025. He was born on June 4th, 1949 in Montgomery, Alabama.
Jimmy grew up in a large, loving family and attended school in Montgomery where he later was drafted into the Army to serve the United States in Vietnam in the 101st Airborne Division. This was one of the things he was most proud of in his life. Jimmy received a Purple Heart after bravely serving his country.
In his lifetime, he had a love for all things related to racing, cars, motorbikes, and Alabama football. He also loved the holidays with family and eating good southern food.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, Hanford L. Tyus; his mother Pauline H. Roberson; his sister Phoebe L. Roberson; his brother Charles H. Tyus (Gayle); and his brother Larry Tyus.
He is survived by his children, Danielle T. Clemons (Terrance), Bryan R. Tyus (Stacy) and Jamie Tyus; his sister Mary F. Hassey; his sister Jody T. McCuiston (Phil); his brother Jackie L. Tyus; his sister Kathy T. Jones (Luther); and his sister Alicia R. Pettis (Roy). He also leaves behind grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama on Friday, April 18th. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Wounded Warriors or the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
Arrangements are by Berryhill Funeral Home of Huntsville, Alabama.
