John Edward Gainer Junior, born August 15,1961, known by his friends and family as "Jay", passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, John E. Gainer, Sr. and Lucy M. Gainer. He is survived by his wife, Bonita Gainer and her daughter Emily Rodriguez (Paul); two grandsons, Ronnie Paul and Michael James Rodriguez, and his sisters, Gail Putman (Wayne), Pamela Mcleroy, and Francis Gainer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jay was a Madison native and long-standing hairdresser, who owned J's on Main Street Salon and touched many lives throughout his career. He was a doting husband and "Pappy", who loved his family fiercely. He was truly one of a kind, never without a lengthy story, anecdote, or opinion to share.

A reception will be held in his honor at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Madison, AL on Monday, August 8th, at 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4 PM.  Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
