John Lewis Smith, 85 years
old, born in Bessemer, Alabama,
on October 12, 1930,
went to his Heavenly home on
March 9, 2016.

John was a Korean War
Veteran, serving as a U.S. Navy
Corpsman supporting the
Marine Corps. John graduated
from Howard College,
Birmingham, Alabama, in
1957. He retired from the Defense
Contract Audit Agency,
Huntsville, Alabama in 1989.
John was a long time member
of Whitesburg Baptist Church.

John was preceded in
death by his loving wife of
54 years, Betty B. Smith. His
survivors are daughter Teri
Smith Mayo (Charles), son
Todd Smith, grandson David
Watley (Christy), granddaughter
Allison Batey (Jason); seven
great grandchildren, Alyssa,
Zachary, Austin, Graham, Briar,
Knox, Rowan and several special
nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be
held at Whitesburg South
Campus Chapel, 7300 Whitesburg
Drive, Huntsville, Alabama,
on Saturday, March
12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr.
Jimmy Jackson officiating. Visitation
will be from 12:00 - 2:00
p.m. at the same location. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.
