Jonell Gooch Byrd, 92, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home July 8, 2026.

She was employed at Redstone Arsenal for 33 years. She worked for several agencies, including Finance and Accounting, Fox Army Hospital, and MICOM as project manager for Stinger and other missile projects. 

She loved travelling, and spending time with her great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 74 years, Lester Byrd.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Bishop, grandson Scott (Celanie) Johnson, and great-grandchildren Jackson Johnson, and Katherine Johnson.

Services will be held graveside at Huntsville Memory Gardens Monday, July 13, 2026 at 11:00am.
