Obituary

Joseph Lee Jones (JL), 64 of New Market, passed away with his family and close friends by his side on Friday, March 24th.
JL was born on October 19th, 1958 in Albertville, Alabama.  After graduating Albertville High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps, serving for 4 years.
Joe was a true Renaissance man, whose interests were immense!  He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast whose numerous professions included welding, EMT, massage therapy and pyrotechnics.  He worked multiple jobs utilizing his knowledge of building, alternative medicine, mechanical and computer sciences. Most recently he'd opened North Alabama Permaculture Design. JL appreciated life and exemplified patience, simplicity and compassion.
His love of the outdoors; specifically, caves and spelunking, combined with his love of helping others led him to join the Huntsville Grotto and the National Speleological Society, where he particpated with the National Cave Rescue Commission for Huntsville Cave Rescue Unit.  Joe helped save lives throughout the Southeast.
Other hobbies included, sailing, canoeing, diving, amateur radio, computer technology and theology.  He was an incredible researcher and always shared his knowledge with many people over a broad array of subjects.
JL practiced Daoist Qigong, a spiritual tradition of living in harmony with nature thru breath and open mindedness. Our love and respect for him expand in every breath as we wonder at what our world will be like without him.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Luby and Louise Jones, Brothers; Jerry, Carl and James Jones.  He is survived by sisters, Carolyn Stoner and Brenda German and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be on Sunday, April 23 rd at 2pm at Center of Light for Applied Metaphysics, 4208 Holmes Ave. NW, Huntsville AL, 35816.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Huntsville Cave Rescue Unit an organization Joe felt strongly about.
