Julie Rebecca
Brewer
July 21, 1973 – July 7, 2024
Julie Rebecca Brewer passed away peacefully on the morning of July 07, 2024. Ms. Brewer was an alumnus of Cherokee County High School, Calhoun Community College, and Athens State University. She held two degrees in Behavioral Science and General Education. As a scholar, Ms. Brewer was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society for academic excellence. Julie was proud to work for the Madison County Sheriff's Department as a dispatcher for almost two decades and for the honor of continuing the law enforcement legacy of her family. She is preceded in death by her father, Larry Aaron Brewer, grandparents Worney Graham and Mary Virginia Brewer, Harry and Eunice Richardson, and cousins Rodney and Caleb Gardener.
Julie is survived by her daughter, Erin Wilson, her mother Pat Brewer, brother and sister-in-law Ben and Courtney Brewer, nephew Graham Brewer, and niece Shelby Brewer, and her sister, Marcie Gatlin (Holliee Gatlin), as well as her cousins Scott Summit and family, Dan, Art, and Chad Taylor and families, and Melina Chasteen and family. She leaves behind a large and beautiful extended family and friends that are beyond measure. She also leaves behind a sweet canine daughter that she rescued from certain misery named Lucy. Julie was an example of pure light in human form. She never met a stranger and if you spoke to her for more than five minutes you could be sure that you had a friend for life. She was a summer child with oceans of pure blue in her eyes and beach waves in her hair. She lived every moment of her years to the fullest and she would always see the good in every person never failing to put herself into the other person's shoes. Her beaming smile could move mountains and change worlds and could put awe into anyone fortunate enough to behold it. Her laugh could instantly dispel any darkness or sadness and to hear it was like Christmas morning, the last day of school and that first hug when you come home all wrapped up in one. It is certain that Julie's cup was always at least half full and if you were to ask her, she would tell you that it runneth over. This is a hard loss for all who knew her but we can be comforted by the certainty that love never dies and if the true measure of a man or woman is what they leave behind, then Julie leaves behind a legacy of angels and kings and pure love.
We can be sure that she is in a place where there is no more pain or darkness. There is a beach with pure white sand and an ocean of the deepest blue. There sits this soul with the sun high in the sky and a breeze blowing in from the south and she is smiling because her work on Earth is done and now...... now she is home.
"Mother, mother ocean, I have heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all
Watched the men who rode you switch from sails to steam
And in your belly, you hold the treasures few have ever seen
Most of 'em dream, most of 'em dream
Follow the equator like that old articulator
Sail upon the ocean just like Mr. Twain
Never look back, this is my plan
Run my pony through the sand
Somewhere, somewhere,"
