Keiko M Hall, passed quietly on 2 June 2025. She was born 28 February 1942 and was 83 years young. She was preceded in death by her only child, Michelle (Hall) Varney and her husband of over 50 years, James B Hall, Jr. She is survived by her grandson, Michael Varney, and her sister, Michele Smith of San Antonio, Texas.
Keiko was born during her mother's first marriage in Japan during WWII. Her father died of tuberculosis during the war when she was still an infant. Keiko's mother (Shizuka Igarashi) married Arthur D Makowski who adopted Keiko in Japan in 1951. The family relocated to Huntsville when she was ten years old and she was enrolled in American schools. Although she spoke only limited English, she persevered and graduated from high school. In 1959 when she as 17, she married James B Hall, Jr in El Paso, Texas. They remained happily married until his death in April 2017.
Keiko was a bright and bubbly personality, full of infectious laughter and humor. She was a good spirited, generous person and impossible not to love once you met her. Keiko will be greatly missed by all who knew her and her laughter will echo in our lives forever.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Berryhill Funeral Home from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, with the service immediately following in the chapel at 11:00. Interment will be held later at Maple Hill Cemetery.
