Kenneth "Ken" Elrie Howard, 75, of New Market, Alabama, passed away on July 23,2026.
Born May 2, 1951, Ken was a proud United States Army veteran who served in the 169th Engineer Battalion during the Vietnam War from 1970-71. During his service he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device. His military service reflected the dedication, resilience, and sense of duty that remained evident throughout his life. After a dedicated career of 30+ years, he retired from Bentley Pontiac and Cadillac, where he won many top sales awards ove rthe years. His love of cars and motorcycles extended far beyond work, as he found great joy for a number of years in touring the scenic roads of the Southeast.
Ken is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Desmarais (Jon),son, Ben Howard (Andrea) , Kenneth Howard (Kim) Howard, and daughter, Jessica Hare (James); grandchildren: Laurel Chuss (Evan), Peyton Desmarais, Emma Desmarais, Madelyn Desmarais, Alexandra Howard, Landon Howard, Benjamin Howard Jr., Jackson Hare, Evelyn Hare, and Lucy Hare; and his great-grandson, Joseph Desmarais.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Betty Howard, and sister, Linda Gail Howard.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Berryhill Funeral Home, 2305 N. Memorial Parkway, Huntsville, Alabama 35810. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
The family thanks all who have offered love, prayers, and support, and asks that Ken be remembered for his service, his strength, and the family he cherished.
May he rest in peace.
