Our beloved father Larry Jerome Ponzini passed away peacefully in his home on December 16, 2024 at the age of 81. He leaves behind his companion Diana Sharp, son Jeff Ponzini(Lynn), daughter Jennifer Evans (Tim), grandchildren Robyn Wooden (Keith), Alex Patrick (Stephanie), Chelsea Ponzini, and Cassie Sullenger; great-grandchildren Bennett, Abigail and Molly; along with many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandsons Jeffrey Ponzini and Justin Howell; and cousin Mike Bonham.

He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 10, 1943. He moved to Huntsville after completing high school at Banks High School. Larry joined the Alabama National Guard and then moved into a long career with Huntsville Utilities. After 35 years with Huntsville Utilities, he retired as a Foreman, but rehired back on as a contractor for several years. He was a dedicated member of the Fraternal order of the Eagles for several years

Dad was always doing something with us.  As an outstanding coach for youth football and softball at Stoner Field, he lead several teams to a city championship and went on to coach All-Star teams to the State level. He touched many people throughout his coaching career; to this day we still get people talking to us about "Coach Ponzini". He loved the outdoors; gardening, fishing and was an avid hunter sharing these passions with both of us.

The funeral will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home on Monday, December 23, 2024. We will be receiving friends and family from 2:00 - 4:00 PM with a Memorial Service to follow at 4:00. All friends and family are welcome.
