Larry Wardman, 78, of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026.

Larry was a lifelong learner with a deep love of science and education. He graduated from Slippery Rock University and went on to earn two master's degrees — one in Chemistry and one in Computer Science. He began his career as a chemistry teacher, dedicating 12 years to shaping young minds before transitioning into industry. Larry worked at the U.S. Steel Pipe factory, beginning his career in Pittsburgh before transferring to Alabama, a move that brought his family to the place they would call home for decades to come.

Throughout his career, Larry also served in contracting roles supporting NASA missions, contributing to projects including the Hubble Space Telescope, the Ares rocket program, and Space Shuttle laboratory missions. He took great pride in being part of work that pushed the boundaries of exploration and discovery.

Above all, Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and Christian. He was a constant presence in his children's lives, often waking early to complete his workday so he could coach team sports and rarely miss a practice or game. His steady encouragement and commitment to his family and faith defined him far more than any professional accomplishment.

Larry found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved model trains, took pride in caring for the family pool, and could often be found working contentedly in the yard.

He married Ann Marie Och on August 29, 1970, beginning a partnership that spanned decades and formed the foundation of a loving family.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Ann; sons, Michael and Brad; daughter-in-law, Katie; and his cherished grandchildren, Cassidy, Isaiah, Isabella, Elizabeth, Lily, and Margaret. He is also survived by his brother, Len, and sister, Bonnie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Violet, and father, Austin.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held on March 14th, 2026 beginning at 11:00 A.M., with a visitation taking place from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Rivertree Church in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama.
