Obituary

Laura Kathleen Brandt, 68, affectionately known as "Kitty," passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at her home in Huntsville, Alabama, holding hands with her husband Joe - her love of 50 years. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Valley Fellowship Church in Huntsville, Alabama, with a private graveside service to be determined.

Kitty lived a life defined by love, gentleness, and quiet strength. She leaves behind a family that adores her, a community that cherishes her, and a legacy of kindness that will not be forgotten.

Born on June 15, 1957, in Center, Colorado, to JoAnne and Hubert Trombly, Kitty was the eldest of three siblings - a brother, John Trombly, and a sister, Jeanne Trombly.

Kitty cherished life's simple pleasures - crocheting gifts by hand, sipping her morning tea with a beloved cat purring nearby, and taking scenic drives with Joe.

At the age of 17, while singing in her church's choir, Joe Brandt stepped through the door for the first time, saw her, and knew that "Miss Kitty" would be his wife. Together, they created a love story that would span five decades - a partnership grounded in faith, laughter, and deep affection. Over the years, they lived in Texas, California, and finally settled in Alabama, where they made their home for the last ten years surrounded by family and friends.

Kitty was the heart of her family, a devoted mother to her oldest daughter, Christina Ann Walker (and her husband Richard Russell Walker), and her youngest daughter, Angela Marie Brandt. She found pure joy in her role as "Mimi" to her four grandchildren - Kathleen, Dustin, Dillon, and Taylor - who added so much light and laughter into her life.

After training as a nurse, Kitty brought that same steadiness, care, and quiet resilience to her work managing offices throughout her life. Central to who she was, though, was her faith. It was in her role as a Sunday School teacher that her true calling came to life - gently guiding others, not through judgment, but through love, patience, and quiet example.

Kindness was her language. She made every person feel seen, every moment feel sacred. Even her smallest requests were tender - often ending with a soft "s'il vous plaît," a habit that somehow made everything sound more loving.

Kitty is survived by her beloved husband Joe; her daughters Christina and Angela; her son-in-law Richard; her goddaughter Amber Compton; her grandchildren Kathleen, Dustin, and Taylor; her brother John; her sister Jeanne; her sisters-in-law Lynn Trombly, Beverly Eller, and Martha Cline; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. Each of them carries a piece of her in their hearts.

Her life was gentle, her impact immeasurable, and her legacy eternal - felt throughout her lifetime and far beyond. May her lovely soul rest with the Lord.
