IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lester Eugene
Elliott Iii
December 19, 1953 – December 29, 2025
Lester E. Elliott III, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on December 29, 2025.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years, Jean Rigsby Elliott. He is survived by his children, Michael Elliott, Chris Seals (Gail), Mike Seals, and Dave Seals; and grandchildren, Kimberly Jones (Justin), Joshua Seals, Andrew Seals, Jessica Seals, Leon Turner (Marie), Samuel Nichols, and Connie Nichols. He was the proud great-grandfather of Isabella, Avia Marie, Aria, Ezariah, and Everleigh. He is also survived by his brother, Stephen Elliott (Melissa), and sister, Charlotte Elliott Surber (Michael), along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester E. Elliott Jr., and mother, Mildred Nell Elliott.
Lester was born in Hampton, Virginia, on December 19, 1953, and spent his childhood traveling across the United States with his parents during his father's service in the United States Air Force. These early years shaped his adaptability, discipline, and respect for service. He graduated from Lee High School in 1972 and entered the United States Air Force shortly thereafter. Following his military service, he returned to Huntsville in 1978.
Lester completed his education with a master's degree from Athens State University. He went on to serve his country as a civilian employee of the United States Department of Defense, spending his career in missile systems acquisition. Working at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, he served as a senior civilian executive and contributed to national defense through his work on the Javelin missile system. His career reflected quiet leadership, deep technical expertise, and a steadfast commitment to public service.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Lester valued what mattered most—his wife and his family. He cherished the time they spent together and the life they shared.
Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
