Obituary

Linda Rose Mills (née Hopkins), age 82 of Fayetteville, Tennessee, died at her home from pancreatic cancer on November 7, 2025.  She was born at home on September 19, 1943, in Bell Factory, Alabama, to Walter Lee & Ruth Gemima Hopkins (née Kennedy).  She is preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.

Linda is survived by two children, son Roy Wayne Tucker and daughter Kimberly "Kim" Tucker Barnes (Dan); five grandchildren, Crystal Rigby Leak (Jeffrey), Sarah Elizabeth Scott (Tim), Dustin Clay McFerrin (Bailey), Brandon Wayne Tucker (Bethany), Heather Barnes Holcomb (Shawn); eight great-grandchildren; two siblings, sister Alice Thompson (née Hopkins) and brother Willard "Bill" Hopkins; numerous nieces and nephews; and her cherished friends.

When she was ten years old, Linda was saved and baptized at Murphy Hill Baptist Church in Toney, Alabama. Her most precious memory was that she got to sing at Murphy Hill church as a child. Using her hands in all manner of creative endeavors was her passion. She adored playing her piano, she was a talented self-taught artist, and an avid gardener whose yards were always filled with blooms galore. She also once enjoyed sewing, ceramics, calligraphy, photography, and doing macrame. Linda considered herself blessed to have been able to travel both domestically and abroad. She had a keen eye for interior décor and especially enjoyed collecting things for her home and garden from her travels.

Linda graduated in 1961 from Flintville High School in Flintville, Tennessee. She retired from TVA after twenty years of service as an administrative assistant in Huntsville, Alabama. She remarked often she was thankful God blessed her with both a good job and co-workers who became some of her most beloved, wonderful friends.

Linda lived her life as she chose. She was fiercely independent. She had very strong opinions. Most importantly, she was, is, and will remain, a Christian.  Her earthly body is no more, but she is forgiven of all her sins and saved from eternal death, and that is God's promise to us all, when we Believe. That each person she loved asks Jesus into their hearts as their Savior was Linda's most fervent prayer.

Donations to Still Serving Veterans (ssv.org) or Wounded Warriors are requested in lieu of flowers.
