Linda Tate, 85, of Meridianville, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Aug. 20, 1940, to the late Ollie and Alta Mae Higgins. Linda was raised in a large, loving family, the youngest of 8 children. She grew up in a close- knit community where neighbors were like family, with friends that lasted a lifetime.

At the tender age of 17, she met and married Buddy Tate. Together, they spent 68 years building a life and family together. Where God and Faith were the foundation for a long and happy marriage, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Buddy, her infant son Gregory, and her cherished son Stuart. She leaves behind her loving and devoted daughter, Melinda.

In addition to her devotion to her family, she built a fulfilling career as Office Manager to Dr. R. Parker Griffith. After 31 years of service to his practice, she happily retired with a well-deserved retirement to focus on more time with her grandchildren, where they made lasting memories on their farm.

Linda was a wonderful cook who hosted many holiday gatherings, where everyone enjoyed gathering around the table, filled with love and a wonderful meal. Love always followed Linda; she always made you feel special, and her faith was close to her heart. Linda was a longtime member of Flint River Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Meridianville.

In their final years, Linda & Buddy lived in an attached home to her daughter, Melinda, and son-in-law, Doug. There, they provided them with constant love, comfort, and care. Doug was like a loving son, who always saw after their needs.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Alta Mae Higgins, her husband Buddy Tate, two sons, infant son Gregory, and Stuart. Brothers Grady, Earl, Billy, Buford, and Kenneth Higgins, and sister Fay Higgins Summerford.

She leaves behind a loving family, daughter Melinda Tate Marona (Doug), sister Peggy Jackson (Vernon)

Grandchildren, Erin Tate Doty ( Trey ), Allison Marona (Ryan), Christopher Tate, Carlee Tate Key, AnnaMarie Davenport ( Kane), Logan Tate( Anna), Caroline Tate Earley (Donnelly); Great Grandchildren Hallie Tate, Mason Key, Trevor Doty, Chandler Key, Cooper Doty, William ‘Tate’ Davenport, & Tucker Doty and a host numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home with funeral service immediately following in the chapel.

The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude to Jana Powell for her love, patience, and devoted care for our loved one. Linda, She was the center of our family, and she got to spend her last days comfortably at home because of your wonderful care.

Burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
