Lynda Louise Johnston, 78, of Madison, AL, passed away on May 19, 2026.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Frieda Johnston, and her husband, Joseph W. Hackett.

She is survived by her brother, Paul Ray Johnston; her cousins, Le Sabre Hoit, Fred Johnston, and Connie Barnett, as well as numerous other relatives.

She was a highly educated woman who graduated from the University of Tennessee in Martin and Knoxville. Lynda was a metallurgical Engineer. Her career included work with Union Carbide, Lockheed Martin, and NASA.

She was a member of Daughters of the King, a religious service organization in the Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Optimists Club and served on many community Boards.

Lynda was known for her generosity, doing many good deeds anonymously.

A Memorial Service for Mrs. Johnston will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 1:00 pm, at Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church in Madison, Alabama.  A reception will follow.
