Mrs. Abernathy peacefully passed away August 27th, surrounded by family.  She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 54 years, Grady H. Abernathy.  She was a life-long resident of Madison County, Alabama, and a member of Harvest Church of Christ for 67 years.

She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, sewing, arts and crafts, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Grady, her mother Maude Wallace, and her brother Marshall Wallace.  She is survived by her children:  Kevin Abernathy (Jennifer), Angie Tate, and Tracy Abernathy, as well as eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous cousins.

Mrs. Abernathy was a servant of Lord, loving, kindhearted, and a joy to be around.  Everyone who entered her home was treated like family.  She was truly a blessing to everyone who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place the following day, Thursday, September 4th, beginning at 2:00 PM, officiated by Greg Tucker. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery.
