Obituary

Margaret Jo "Peggy" Bowers, 78, of Toney, Alabama, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 1, 2026.

Born on January 5, 1948, Peggy lived a life marked by faith, music, service,and an unwavering love for her family. A devoted member of First Baptist Church of Meridianville, she shared her musical talents throughout her life,playing the piano and organ for countless worship services and special occasions. Music was one of her greatest passions, and she used her gift to bring joy and encouragement to others.

On November 23, 1978, Peggy married the love of her life, John Bowers, Sr.,after a brief courtship. Together they built a marriage firmly rooted in faith,love, and commitment to God. Through life's joys and challenges, they remained devoted to one another, serving as an example of Christian love and steadfast partnership to their family and all who knew them. They shared a love for travel and cherished the many adventures they experienced together over the years. John and Peggy also founded Bowers Plumbing Company, Inc., and together they built a family business that has faithfully served the community for decades. Peggy’s strong work ethic,dedication, and support played an important role in the company's success.

Outside of her work and church life, Peggy was known for her love of cooking and for the warmth she brought to every gathering. Her kitchen was often a place where family and friends felt welcomed, loved, and cared for. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren,and extended family, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. 

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Frazier and Nola Bright; her brother, Ronnie Bright; her stepson, Kenneth Bowers and her beloved son,Darrell Bell.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, John Bowers, Sr.;daughter-in-law, Karen Bowers; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Bell;stepdaughter, Dewinna Bowers; nephew, Rodney Boone; grandchildren,Jamie (Will) Zeigler, Rebecca (Ben) Carroll, Lauren Novack, Connor Boone,Brennan (Kennedy) Bell, Maggie (Adam) Whitmore, and Tanner (Haley) Bell;ten great-grandchildren with one on the way; and several nieces, nephews,extended family members, and dear friends.

Peggy will be remembered for her steadfast faith, servant's heart, musical gifts, and the deep love she shared with those around her. While her family grieves her absence, they find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her son, Darrell, and is worshiping her Savior in eternal peace.

Her legacy of faith, love, music, and family devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 11:00a.m. to 2:30 p.m.with the funeral service starting at 2:30pm at Berryhill Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
