Obituary

Margaret Marie Evans Vidaurri, 87, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026 after a courageous battle with pneumonia and advanced dementia, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on July 15, 1938, in Somerville, Alabama and grew up in Huntsville and the surrounding areas.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Rene Vidaurri; parents, Clara Lee Speegle and James Joseph Evans; her beloved son, John Thomas Wiley Jr; siblings, Opal Ruth, Acklin Ray, Joseph Richard, Carrie Elizabeth, Ruby Nell, and Martha Lee; great-granddaughter, Adaline Rose Hall; and stepdaughter, Artie Fontenot.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Monena Wiley; grandchildren, Alina Hall (Nick), Drew Wiley (Tracy), Helena Cantrell, Katrina Miller (Fred), and Miranda Bradley (Josh); eleven great-grandchildren; six stepchildren; ten step-grandchildren; twenty step-great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews who will continue to cherish her memory.

Margaret worked for Chrysler for 25 years before retiring. After retirement, she spent time living in Florida, where she enjoyed the many amenities of her retirement community and the peaceful pace of retired life. Later, she returned to Huntsville to be closer to her family.

She and her husband shared a love for travel and enjoyed taking trips in their RV to visit family. Margaret also loved going for walks, spending time with those she loved, and making memories with her family. She was known by all who loved her for her sweet nature, her kindness, and the warmth she brought to those around her. She was also a devoted fan of Auburn Tigers football and loved cheering them on every football season—War Damn Eagle!

In her final days, she was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter, Alina Hall, and her niece, Shari Siock, whose devotion and compassion brought her comfort and peace.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her strong spirit, and the lasting impact she made on those fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her love and presence will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 8th from 3:00 - 4:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home, followed by memorial service at 4:00.
