Margie B. Moon, 84, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, at North Alabama Specialty Hospital.

Born and raised in Huntsville, Margie was the youngest child and only daughter of Florence and Ollie Byrom. She was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers, Marvin Byrom, J.B. Byrom, and Fred Byrom.

Margie is survived by her four children, Darlene Smithey, Charles Smithey, Christine Mayes (John), and Marlena Smithey; her two grandchildren, Marissa McClure (Steven) and Cody Mayes; and her two beloved great-grandchildren, Emma McClure and Noah McClure.

In 1960, Margie began her distinguished federal career when NASA's MSFC was established in Huntsville, Alabama. She dedicated 35 years of service before retiring in 1995 as a manager with the NASA Inventory Program. Following her retirement, she continued to contribute her expertise for another decade through multiple government support contractors.

She found great joy in traveling, particularly to the Gulf Coast beaches and the Smoky Mountains. Above all, she treasured time spent with family and especially cherished gatherings with her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.

Margie was known for her generous spirit, kind heart, and willingness to help others whenever she could. Her compassion, selflessness, and quiet strength touched the lives of many and will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. A chapel service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Jimmy McClure officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.

Margie's legacy of love, generosity, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
