Mary P. Clarke, 73, of Huntsville, AL passed from this life to life eternal on Nov. 18, 2017. She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.

Born on January 31, 1944 in Aintree, England, Mary was a graduate of St. Anne's School Windermere and Thomas Nelson Community College (Summa Cum Laude). She moved to the United States in 1970 to be with her love, Richard. Mary lived in Newport News, VA for over 40 years before moving to Alabama to live with her daughter and family in 2011. She retired from Newport News Public Schools after over 17 years of service as a teaching and language arts assistant. She was an active member of Grace Pointe Baptist Church in New Market, AL. Mary will be remembered for her loving, gentle soul and servant's heart. She also had a love for hedgehogs and jolly good expressions! She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her daughters will always "lvoe" and "lava" her.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Richard A. Clarke, Jr., and brother, Robin Edwards. Left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Marcia Agena and her husband, Jim of Huntsville, AL, and Lora Clarke of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Cody and Lindsay; one sister, Doreen Crabb of New Zealand; and two brothers, Brian Edwards and Peter Edwards of the United Kingdom.

The family thanks the doctors and staff at Clearview Cancer Institute, nurses at Alacare, and caregiver, Nicole, for their kindness, compassion, and love during Mary's illness.

Arrangements are under the care of Berryhill Funeral Home – 2305 Memorial Parkway NW, Huntsville, AL 35810. The family will receive friends from 3:30-4pm on Sunday, November 26th and funeral services will be held immediately after at 4pm. A private interment will be held at Hampton National Cemetery, VA at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
