Maryanne Mccauley's Obituary

Maryanne (Miss Minnie) McCauley celebrated her 93rd birthday on April 12, 2024. She was born in East Palestine, Ohio in 1931, a place she for years called the promise land. She passed through the pearly gates of heaven one week later April 19, 2024, while sleeping in her suite at Magnolia Trace, Huntsville, AL.

At Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at Magnolia Trace, One Clubhouse Avenue SW, Huntsville, AL 35802 in the Magnolia Room at 10:00 AM on Tuesday April 30, 2024. The phone number of Magnolia Trace is 256-261-1600. The service will be informal, and refreshments will be provided after the service. Minnie gave a significant amount of her life in service to the various churches where she belonged. She was personal friends with most of her pastors. In her retired life she and her prom date and later husband of 62 years Richard McCauley (Dick) served in missionary work building schools for children in Guatemala and served meals in a soup kitchen for many years. When Dick retired, they became snowbirds in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and decades ago sold their home and moved there permanently. Palm Beach Gardens became the new Promise Land and while they resided there, they took their last trip (of which there were many throughout her life) to Israel. She loved traveling, canoeing, hiking, and bicycling. She walked on glaciers in Alaska, rafted down the Colorado River into and hiked out of the Grand Canyon. She loved her only daughter, Jan and her family, and could be seen in photos wherein there were five generations. At one point in her brief career as the Bridal Consultant for a major department store, she planned, organized, and orchestrated Jan's wedding and reception. Dick's health issues necessitated they leave south Florida and move into Magnolia Trace in 2010. Miss Minnie continued her hiking activities by walking 2 ½ miles around the campus putting residents' newspapers on their doorstep with a gentleman she befriended, also a Magnolia Trace resident, Gene Simonson. Her life was full of adventure and constant activity. We will miss you mom! No need to set that alarm for 5:30!

Minnie joined her mom Lucy and dad Powers Jones and Husband Richard "Dick" McCauley in the final Promise Land on April 19th. She is survived by her daughter Jan Williamson (Allan), grandson Ed Williamson (Michele), Allana Williamson (Patrick Mardis), three great grandsons Michael, Corey and Shane, and one great great granddaughter Hailey. Special thanks to the personnel at Magnolia Trace and Heartlite Hospice who made her final days as comfortable as possible. Donations to Alzheimer's Association in Minnie's honor would be most appreciated.
