Merle Fred Appenzellar, Sr. age 85 of Huntsville passed away November 13, 2020.

He is survived by two sons, Merle Fred Appenzellar, Jr. (Debbie), and David Leroy Appenzellar; two brothers, Richard Appenzellar, and Bob Appenzellar; one sister, Nancy Farrow; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Appenzellar was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Merlene Appenzellar, and one brother, Larry Appenzellar.

He was a native of Chambersburg, PA, and a resident of Madison County since 1974.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, 32nd Degree, and retired the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service to his country.  He also retired from NASA with 20 years of service.

There are no services planned at this time.  Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
