Michael Henry Schmanke was born on May 13, 1964 in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents Joanna and Walter Schmanke. He carried on the city legacy by becoming an avid, strong fan of the Cleveland Browns, and graduated from Kent State University to later become a highly-esteemed aerospace engineer at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.

Besides being the number one Cleveland Browns fan, Michael enjoyed crafting models of military ships and planes, watching countless hours of old sci-fi and horror movies, and dominating his family and friends in Trivial Pursuit.

He is survived by his wife, Laura, sons Oliver and Aaron, siblings Matt Schmanke, Dave Schmanke, and Patti Vianco, and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by a strong community of close friends and co-workers who supported him and his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Berryhill  Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL, on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Visitation will be at 3:00- 4:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. There will be further celebrations of Michael's life at the Schmanke's home immediately following the service for anyone who wishes to come.
