Michael Lee Shafer passed away at home on June 5, 2025.  He was born May 16, 1943 in Huntsville to Alice Rutland Shafer.

Michael had a fulfilling career in Procurement and Purchasing at Bendix, SCI, Enthone and Englehard.  He also was manager at Pin Palace.  However, the job he loved the most was being the long distance delivery driver for O'Reilly's on Bob Wallace Ave.  He loved his job and the people he worked with there.

Michael loved Alabama football and his 32 cats.

Special message from his wife of 48 years, Deborah Tynes Shafer:

"When it time to fully retire he stayed home with me and our cats.  He was the most caring and loving person I have ever known.  He was a wonderful husband and father.  I will always carry him in my heart."

He was also survived by his four children: Michael Todd Shafer,James Murphy Shafer, Brian Hunter Shafer and Brandi Michelle Williams; four grandchildren: Ciera Yates, Jayda Smith, Hannah Shafer and Noah Shafer; six great-grandchildren; niece, Laura Hachey Prozan; and two sisters, Linda Hachey and Cathy Shafer.

No services are planned.  Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
