IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mikhael Eugene
Weitzel
March 23, 1972 – February 19, 2026
Mikhael Eugene Weitzel, born on March 23, 1972, passed away suddenly on February 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, scholarship, and deep devotion to his family.
Mikhael proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, embodying honor, courage, and commitment. His time in service reflected his strong sense of duty and love for his nation—values that remained with him throughout his life.
An accomplished historian, Mikhael possessed a lifelong passion for understanding the past and sharing its lessons with others. He approached history not merely as a subject of study, but as a living narrative that shaped the present and inspired the future. His intellect, curiosity, and thoughtful insights left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of learning from him.
In his free time, Mikhael found joy in board games and role-playing games, where his imagination and love of storytelling flourished. He also cherished traveling, embracing opportunities to explore new places, cultures, and experiences. Whether through his adventures or his hobbies, he brought enthusiasm, creativity, and passion to all he did.
Above all, Mikhael was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his granddaughter, Kenna Kate Grafton.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa Faith Weitzel; his daughters, Freija Opp and husband Stuart, Aurora Weitzel, and Hope Herrington and husband Matt; his son, Mikhael Eugene Weitzel Jr.; and his cherished granddaughter, Callie Weitzel. He is also survived by his loving parents, Eugene and Luci Weitzel; his brother, Daniel Weitzel; and his sister, Elizabeth Vance.
Mikhael will be remembered for his steadfast character, keen mind, adventurous spirit, and the deep love he held for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the knowledge he shared, and the family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Mikhael on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Berryhill Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Military honors will be rendered in recognition of his service to his country.
