Monroe William Baker, 93, departed this earth for heaven on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 to join our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his beloved wife, Margie.
Born February 29,1932, Monroe grew up in New Orleans, LA and Huntsville, AL. He displayed his talent for business early as a boy, selling newspapers on the New Orleans streetcars.
He graduated from Huntsville High School in 1950, and served in the U.S. Navy until 1960. He began a lifelong career in real estate, establishing Baker Real Estate and serving twice as president of the Huntsville Board of Realtors. He later established a commercial and residential appraisal business, from which he retired at age 88.
Monroe was a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
He is preceded in death by his cherished wife Margie of 68 years; brothers Thomas and Donald, and sister Beagie Stewart.
He is survived by his sister Joyce Pierce, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephew. Monroe will always be remembered for his love for Christ, his appreciation for nature, his positive outlook and sense of humor.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Berryhill Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, followed immediately by the service in the chapel at 2:00 pm with Dennis Cleveland and Peyton Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
