Obituary

It's amazing, the vast amount of love and happiness that was packed into just four and a half years.

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce that our precious son Nicholas James Coleman, age 4, of Harvest, AL, passed away on January 21, 2026. He was born in Madison, AL, on June 08, 2021, to Cheyenne and Bradly Coleman. He came into this world with parents who prayed for him, a big sister, Emily Coleman, who doted on him, and an extended family who loved getting to know him.

Family Time

Nicholas was happiest when spending time with family. He had recently said he liked seeing all his family more than going to Disney World. His favorite activities included going on neighborhood walks where he would ride his bike, scooter, or Spider-Man motorcycle. It was so much fun pretending to be superheroes and villains battling on a daily basis. He was so happy seeing Christmas lights every year and would talk about them all year long. Movie nights at home were always best with his favorite M&Ms. Spaghetti nights weren't complete without lots of Parmesan cheese. Swinging in the backyard and running over to make a s'more at the fire was pure joy. Life was wonderful when he was roughhousing with his Dada, cuddling with his Mama, and running around playing with his sister, Emmy. He had the great childhood experience of getting spoiled regularly by his grandparents, Kelly and Ruben DeLaCruz (known as Yaya and Papa), and LeighAnn and Mark Coleman (known as Nana and Pawpaw). He also loved seeing his uncles, aunts, and cousins. His Yaya passed in 2024, and we take comfort in knowing they have been reunited, along with other family members he never got to meet.

Our Superhero

Anyone who knew Nicholas knows he loved superheroes. Spider-Man and Power Rangers were his favorites. There were so many hours he spent putting on his favorite music and practicing his superhero moves. Jumps, kicks, and punches like the Green Ranger, and web-slinging like Spin and Spidey. He often listened to southern rock, Power Rangers songs, or music from movies he loved, like Black Panther and Spider-Man. He was definitely a music lover and knew the names of his favorite bands and songs at a very early age. It must also be mentioned that he had some great moves when he had living room dance parties with his parents and sister. He also loved coloring and painting, superhero shows and movies, mint chocolate chip ice cream, playing with toys, going to playgrounds, metal detecting, going to Dauphin Island, wearing his many superhero suits, going to the tool store, fall weather, funny cat videos, learning how to play guitar and piano, playing old video games, bowling, trampoline parks with ball pits, wearing temporary tattoos, air hockey, and so much more.

Warrior Spirit

Despite his tough journey with brain cancer, he remained the innocent, loving, hilarious boy he always was. His bravery, courage, and resilience inspired us every day. He truly has a warrior spirit. He is our superhero, and he will always be admired for his strength. He was the boy who, upon walking into the hospital for multiple days of inpatient chemotherapy, stopped to smell flowers and encouraged his Mom to smell them as well. He was the boy who, even after hard days full of appointments, often danced around all silly in the bathroom before bed with his shirt on his head. "Crazy hair," he called it. The little moments like that were made more beautiful by his innocence and sense of wonder. He showed his awesome personality and love for his family through to the very end, never letting cancer defeat his spirit. Cancer could never take that away.

Remembered Always
Nicholas will always be remembered through the countless memories we made with him. He was truly a light in this world and made our days so much brighter. He showed us how to find something to smile about, even in the ordinary moments of life, even in the hard moments. His light will continue to shine through in the love that remains.

To our Nicholas, we wish we could have had many more years with you. You were smart, funny, sweet, kind, brave, awesome, amazing, and beautiful inside and out. Every day with you was so special, from the moment you woke up smiling and reaching for a hug, to bedtime when you would say, "Love you, you best."

You loved being here with your family, and you knew how cherished and loved you are. Thank you for loving us so much and for all the fun we had together. This isn't "goodbye," it is "see you later." We will always miss you, Nicky. We will never forget you. We are so proud that you are our son. We love you, buddy. Always and forever, no matter what. You best.
