Obituary

With hearts full of gratitude and deep sorrow, we celebrate the lives of P.C. & Saramma Verghese who left their earthly home for their heavenly abode within the space of two days. We stand in awe as we praise God for His faithfulness which was evident all through their lives.

P.C. Verghese (P.C.) lived a life wholly devoted to God. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. While in law school, P.C. committed to following Jesus, following which he joined the Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI). He served diligently, teaching the Bible, discipling students, and strengthening believers across India.

Following his years with the UESI, he continued as an itinerant minister for decades, faithfully preaching the gospel for a total of almost 70 years. His ministry took him to many countries, proclaiming Christ with clarity, conviction, and compassion. Numerous lives were touched by his preaching, counseling, and a life of integrity. In addition, the trajectory of a number of lives were changed through his faithful ministry of God's word.

Those who knew him will remember his unwavering faith, disciplined life of prayer, deep knowledge of Scripture, and his wholehearted devotion to God. His greatest joy was to see others come to know and follow Jesus.

Saramma Verghese (Sara), was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, respected academic, and faithful follower of Jesus.

Sara was a woman of extraordinary grace and strength. As a wife, she was a wise and steadfast partner to P.C. As a mother and
grandmother, she nurtured her family with unwavering love, prayer, and encouragement. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, discipline, laughter, and delicious meals that were prepared with love. Her grandchildren will forever remember her gentle guidance, her stories, and the comfort of her presence.

Professionally, Sara was a dedicated academic who believed deeply in the power of education to transform lives. She carried herself with integrity, excellence, and a quiet confidence, earning the respect of colleagues and students alike. She was the consummate professional — organized, thoughtful, and committed to doing every task well.

Yet, her gifts extended far beyond her profession. Sara was an exceptional chef, a talented seamstress, and a passionate gardener. She was thrifty and wise, being a good steward of the resources God had entrusted her. Sara was capable, resourceful, and resilient.

Above all, Sara loved Jesus and she lived out her faith. She was generous and compassionate reflecting Christ's love in practical ways. Her life was characterized by faithfulness, humility, grace and a quiet confidence in God.

P.C. and Sara were married for 61 years. Together they built a Christ-centered home and were blessed with four daughters (2 sets of twins). They were devoted to each other through the ups and downs of life. Though their absence leaves an immeasurable void, their legacy lives on in the lives they shaped, the values they instilled, and the love they so freely gave. Though deeply missed, their family rejoices in the assurance that they are now in the presence of the Lord they loved and served so faithfully for almost 70 years.

They are survived by their children Susan (A.K.), Rachel (Dave), Martha and Mary (Thomson), grandchildren John (Sara), Jacob (Saumia) and Josh (Sara), great-grandchildren Levi, Norah, Ruthie and Ava.

A private funeral service will be held at the Berryhill Funeral Home, in Huntsville, Alabama.

Well done, good and faithful servants.
