IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peter Hudson
Wright
January 10, 1963 – November 19, 2025
Peter Hudson Wright, 62, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away at home on November 19, 2025. Born on January 10, 1963, in Huntsville, Peter's life was rooted in faith, family, service, and an enduring curiosity about the world around him.
Peter was baptized at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church and remained a faithful communicant throughout his life. His early years at Holy Spirit School and later at Huntsville High shaped him into a young man known for his sharp mind, kindness, and quiet determination. Those qualities carried him to the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned his degree in Nuclear Engineering on a four-year Air Force ROTC scholarship. He often spoke with pride about his years at Georgia Tech, his Lambda Chi Alpha brotherhood, and the lifelong friendships formed there.
Peter devoted much of his life to serving his country. As a nuclear engineer for the U.S. Air Force Weapons Laboratory at Kirkland Air Force Base, he approached his work with the same sense of duty and precision that defined him in all things. His later civilian service with the Missile Defense Agency allowed him to continue contributing to national security, and he was decorated for his work on the Golden Dome project—an accomplishment he rarely mentioned but quietly cherished.
Although his career was distinguished, what mattered most to Peter was his family. He was the family genealogist, always eager to uncover another thread of history and connect it to the present. A member of a NASA pioneer family, he carried those stories with pride and passed them along to the next generation.
Peter found joy in many things: the discipline of tennis, the camaraderie of Scouting—from Eagle Scout to lifelong supporter—and the beauty of the land he tended with his wife at Blooms Flower Farm. That farm, co-owned and lovingly run with Cynthia, became a reflection of Peter himself: hardworking, peaceful, and full of quiet beauty.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, COL (Ret.) Peter Wright and Jean Frances Hudson Wright, whom he deeply admired.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Cynthia Rena Wright, J.D., Ph.D., who was his partner in every sense; his children, Timothy M. Wright, Shelby L. Morris, and Robert T. Payne; and his siblings, LTC (Ret.) Jean-Marie C. Wright; Teresa A. Wright (Michael); COL (Ret.) John T. Wright (Tammy); Carol E. W. Vernon; and Paul C. Wright. Peter dearly loved his many nieces, nephews, and cousins, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 625 Airport Road in Huntsville. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the family plot at Maple Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John T. Wright, Paul C. Wright, Tyler Payne, Gene Cummins, and Mike Lico. Michael R. Miller will serve as honorary pallbearer.
The family is grateful for the support and care of Berryhill Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, an organization that played a foundational role in Peter's youth and throughout his life.
