Obituary

Philip J. Kluka, age 91, of Huntsville, AL, peacefully passed away on February 18, 2026 with his loving wife and youngest son by his side.

He was born July 15, 1934 in Chester, PA, a son of the late John and Esther Dantiz Kluka.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Philip enlisted in the US Army where he met and married the love of his life, Mathilde, whom he spent 68 wonderful years with. He served his country for over 20 years including assignments in Vietnam and Korea. He loved his country and was a model soldier earning him high praise and many accommodations. Following his long military service career, he retired in Huntsville, AL where he spent the remainder of his life enjoying family and doing a lot of fishing.

Known for his love of the outdoors, Papa (as he was referred to by his family) loved to share time with family (especially his grandchildren), and one of his favorite activities was to go on picnics to one of his local fishing holes. There would always be lots' of food, fun, laughter, and fishing. Papa was an avid fisherman and could often be found at one of his favorite fishing spots and always came home with a mess of fish to clean. He was a good man with a big heart and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Please don't dwell on his passing because he is doing what he loves. He has "Gone Fishing", and it is a guarantee that he is catching plenty.

Philip is survived by his devoted wife, Mathilde; children, Philip (Teresa) and Wayne (Lois); six grandchildren: Michael (Kara), Sarah, Daniel, Alex (Morgan), Holly (Marcus), and Chloe; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Eddie, John, Steve, and Joseph; and sisters, Francis and Mary.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date for family.

Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
