IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phillip Lamar
Gibson
January 28, 1958 – November 30, 2025
Phillip Lamar Gibson, a devoted servant of the Lord, loving husband, father, and "Pawpaw," passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the age of 67. He was a lifelong resident of North Alabama, born in Brewton, Alabama, and residing in Huntsville.
Phillip was born on January 28, 1958. His life was defined by his unwavering faith, his deep love for his family, and his passion for Alabama Football (Roll Tide!). He truly never met a stranger and joyfully shared the love of Jesus with everyone he encountered, offering a warm smile and kind word to all. Phillip cherished the time he spent with his many grandchildren, whose smiles and presence brought him immense happiness.
His memory will be forever cherished by his beloved wife of 35 years, Sara Darby Gibson of Chester, SC; and their devoted daughters: Jennifer Robinson (Darren) of Chester, SC, Lisa Barnett (Drew) of New Market, AL, and Catina Gibson of Gurley, AL. Phillip's enduring legacy continues through his ten adoring grandchildren: Shadae Dove, Shemeka Meadows, Jordan Barnett, Anniston Barnett, Danielle Hackley, Kevin Hackley Jr., Brianna Dancha, Lily Robinson, Brody Edwards, and Rosie Robinson.
He is also survived by his siblings: Phillip Marvin Gibson (Cookie), Lil' Horace Gibson, Chester Mooney, Sheila Gibson, and Angie Hadley.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Gibson and Hazel Mooney, and his siblings: Jackie Gibson, Micheal Wayne Gibson, Everett Gibson Jr. (Tiger), Sandra Marie Guy, Diane Gibson, James Mooney and Judy Faye Palmer.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Shipps Baptist Church, located in Gurley, Alabama.
The Funeral Service will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 PM with Sam Gulley officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place at Pleas Mount Cemetery in Killingsworth Cove.
Phillip is resting now in the promise of eternal life, for: "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
