IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phillip Alan
Howard
December 30, 1958 – May 15, 2025
Phillip Alan Howard, 66, of Athens, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on December 30, 1958 in Clarksville, TN, Phillip was the son of William and Sarah Howard.
Phillip proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He deeply loved his country and carried that pride with him throughout his life. After his service, he began a long and fulfilling career as a commercial truck driver, traveling the open roads he loved and exploring the country he so proudly defended.
Phillip was a devoted husband, stepfather, and grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. He never met a stranger and was known for his kind hear, easy smile, and the way he made everyone feel welcome.
Outside of his career, Phillip had a passion for flying and earned both his private and twin engine pilot licenses, embracing the freedom and adventure of the skies. He also found joy on the open road with his Harley and loved shooting his guns - a hobby he truly loved.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife, Rena; stepchildren, Ashley Dennis (Chris) and John Marshall (Anja); and his cherished grandchildren, Kaylee and Kelsey Dennis, and Anika Marshall. He also leaves behind his father, William Howard; brother, Willie Howard (Jan); and sister, Ellen Howard Steakley (Ron).
Phillip's warmth, adventurous spirit, love for his family, and unwavering patriotism will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Phillip's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Phillip's memory, of simply take a moment to enjoy a good ride, a day in the sky, or time at the range -- just as he loved to do.
