Ralph John Weber IV passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the age of 52, with his beloved wife, Christie, by his side after a very brief illness. His passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
Born on July 24, 1973, in Savannah, Georgia, John entered the world while his father was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield. As the proud eldest son of Ralph III and Mary Diane Weber, he embraced the life of a military family, moving to cities such as Fort Rucker, AL; Cincinnati, OH; Fort Campbell, KY; Huntsville, AL; and Germany. The Weber family eventually made Fort Rucker their home, and John graduated from Enterprise High School.
After high school, John returned to Huntsville to attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), where he quickly became an active and beloved member of the campus community. He was a proud brother of the Sigma Nu fraternity, Mu Beta Chapter, and a member of the UAH Rowing Team. In 1996, he earned his degree in Electrical Engineering, a career path that perfectly matched both his mind and his passions.
Throughout his career, John was known for his sharp intellect, integrity, and calm confidence. He worked at several companies including Silicon Graphics, Phase IV, Memec, and Avnet, before finding his professional home at TechNexion, where he served as U.S. lead and Business Development Engineer for the past eight years. John's commitment to excellence and his genuine love for engineering made him a respected colleague.
But John's greatest joy was found beyond the world of work. He cherished his roles as husband, father, brother, son, and friend. His baritone voice, booming laugh, and ever-present smile lit up every room he entered. He met the love of his life, Christie, during a local performance of Shenandoah. He was on stage, and she was in the orchestra. Their shared love for the arts blossomed into a deep partnership. They married on March 19, 2005, and together built a life full of music, laughter, and adventure.
John's proudest title was "Dad." He welcomed his daughter, Madeline Claire, on April 20, 2012, and beamed with pride at her every milestone. Maddie was the sunshine of his life, inheriting her dad's bright smile and kind heart. Two years later, on July 18, 2014, the Weber family grew again with the arrival of Owen Christopher. Owen's inquisitive mind and playful spirit reflected his father's love for discovery and for Legos.
John loved deeply and lived fully. Whether he was brewing the perfect cup of coffee, cooking gourmet meals, exploring new cities with his cherished McCleary family, or enjoying the arts in Huntsville, he approached everything with joy and curiosity. Never far from his engineering roots, John founded the Lego Robotics Club at Valley Leadership Academy, where he inspired students to think, build, and play. His childlike wonder and gentle leadership left a lasting impact on the children he mentored.
He was also known for his dry wit and collection of quirky, nerdy t-shirts. One favorite captured his unique humor:
"There are two types of people in this world:
1. Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data."
One of the treasured memories John and Christie shared with their children and extended McCleary family came as he celebrated his 49th birthday during a remarkable trip to Switzerland. True to his spirit of curiosity and quiet courage, John decided he was going to paraglide off the Swiss Alps, despite a discomfort with heights. With determination, he slipped away from the group and made his way to Interlaken. He returned not only triumphant but with video proof that he soared through big blue skies with that big laughter echoing as he embraced the moment fully. That video captured John perfectly: brave, joyful, and always pushing himself out of his comfort zone, even when it took him off the ground.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Christie Liane; his precious children, Madeline Claire and Owen Christopher; his loving parents, Ralph III and Mary Diane Weber; his brothers, Scott (Julie) Weber and their son Landon; Matthew (Becky) Weber; and his loyal dog Brody "Lottabucks" Weber. His family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the joy of knowing him will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home.
A celebration of John's life will take place on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Berryhill Funeral Home, officiated by Johnathan Davidson.
Pallbearers are Scott Weber, Matthew Weber, Landon Weber, Jacob McCleary, Bryce McCleary, and Eddie Midgett.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
John's life was a symphony of love, laughter, curiosity, and compassion and we are all better for having known him.
