Obituary

With heavy hearts and deep faith, we share the passing of Richard "Richie" Hadley Gaylord, who left this world on June 8, 2025, after a long and brave battle with cancer. He was just 47 years old.

Richie lived a life filled with honesty, creativity, and connection. He was someone who made friends wherever he went, not by trying—but simply by being himself. His warm smile, big heart, and willingness to help anyone in need, left a lasting impression on everyone who had the blessing of knowing him.

He had a true gift for building and fixing, and his mechanical mind was matched only by his creativity. Whether he was working on a project, solving a problem, or making something from nothing, Richie always did it with care and purpose. He found joy in the work of his hands, and even more in the people around him.

Richie was a devoted dad to his two daughters and a proud paw to his cherished grandchild. His love for them was unwavering, and he found great purpose and joy in being a father and grandfather. He also leaves behind his loving wife, his mother and father, and two dear sisters—each of whom he held close in his heart.

Though we are heartbroken by his absence, we take comfort in knowing Richie's pain is gone and that he is now healed and whole in the presence of his Savior. Richie was a man of faith who believed in the power and peace of God. He clung to that faith through his hardest days, and now rests in the arms of his Creator, free from suffering.

His strength, love, and humor will remain with us always. He taught us how to fight with courage, love without limits, and live with gratitude—even in the hardest times because "can't never could do nothin." His was a life well lived, and a heart well loved.

A celebration of Richie's life will be held on Friday, June 13th. Visitation will be from 12:30-2:00 at Berryhill Funeral Home, where all who knew him are welcome to gather, share memories, and honor the incredible man he was. Funeral to follow visitation at 2 PM, officiated by Ken Davis and Fred Medlen. Richie will be laid to rest at Pleas Mount Baptist Church in Killingsworth Cove. All are welcome to attend this graveside benediction.

Until we meet again, we hold tightly to the promise that in Richie's words this is just a "love you, later" moment not goodbye.
