Richard Russell Poates, 67, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

He is survived by his son, Buddy Ratliff; stepson, Will Gaines; sister, Jo Poates and Linda Mars; nieces, Danni Jo Grider and Jenny Mars; nephews, Peyton Mars and Trey Mars; and great-nephew, Riley Mars.

He is preceded by his wife, Suzanne Gaines; Parents, Charles and Suellen Ratliff; and stepfather, John Poates.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
