March 11, 1957 - August 31, 2022

Mr. Richard "Rick" Thomas Samaniego Sr., 65, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born on March 11, 1957 in Huntsville to Mary F. Samaniego, and the late Ramon J. Samaniego Jr. Mr. Samaniego was a Mechanical Designer for many contractors over the years. He was a standout wrestler and football player at Lee High School, he transitioned his love for sports into mountain bike riding and coaching his two sons, Thomas and Tyler. "Coach Rick" not only loved coaching his two sons, but all of the kids in the Oak Park community.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ramon J. Samaniego Jr. and nephew Matthew L. Samaniego. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Sandra T. Samaniego along with his two children: Richard T. Samaniego Jr. (Thomas) and Robert T. Samaniego (Tyler). He is also survived by his mother Mary F. Samaniego; siblings: R. John Samaniego III (Shirley), Joseph M. Samaniego (Debbie), Clarissa S. Pence (Mark Jefferson) and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 4, 2022 from 3:00 - 4:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home, followed by memorial service at 4:00.
