Ricky Dean
Ridgeway
May 28, 1959 – April 16, 2021
Ricky Dean Ridgeway, "Rick," 61, passed away at his home in Huntsville on Friday, April 16.
He was born in Huntsville on May 28, 1959, the son of Donald Ridgeway and Lorene Houk Ridgeway. He is survived and already missed by his brother, Roger D. Ridgeway, Sr. (Beverly) of Pass Christian, MS; sister, Donna Ridgeway Nabors (Kim Steakley) of Meridanville, AL; sister, Rhonda Ridgeway Hopson (Bill) of Madison; niece, Melissa O' Quin (Matt) of Slidell, La.; nephews: Dr. Roger Ridgeway, Jr. (Becky) of Ocean Springs, MS., Todd Nabors (Karla) of San Diego, Ca., and Tyler Nabors (Kari) of Huntsville, AL. He also leaves behind four great-nephews, one great-niece, and numerous beloved cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and younger brother James Randall Ridgeway.
He was employed by Pizza Hut in Huntsville for over two decades.
His favorite pastimes included: spending time with family, watching documentaries and classic movies, especially film noir and classic horror, and traveling. He followed Alabama Football, could discuss any battle of World War II, and enjoyed keeping up with the daily craziness in the New York Post. He was a quiet, humble man who loved unconditionally and never sought attention or praise. He was content observing the absurdities of the world with bemusement and an unequaled sense of humor. As his family knew, every morning started with grits, a cup of coffee, and "Rick and Bubba" on the radio. Every family gathering was made more special by his quick wit. A highlight in his life was a two week trip with his sister through Europe in 2016. Possessing a kind heart for all of God's creatures, he never met a stray cat that he didn't try to feed. In his memory, please donate a bag of cat or dog food to your local animal shelter.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 20 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with Calisha Alexander officiating.
