Robert Lee “Buster” Crabb, 82, of Meridianville, Alabama went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 28, 2026.

Buster was born on February 4, 1944, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Ora Hulbert and Lillie Mae Crabb. Because his father was both a carpenter and a gospel preacher, the Crabb family moved several times before eventually settling in Loretto, Tennessee. It was there that Buster met the young woman who would become the love of his life and his bride,Geri.

Buster and Geri were married on June 26, 1964, beginning a marriage and life together that spanned 62 years. Soon after their marriage,Buster was drafted into the United States Army in 1966 during the Vietnam War. He served for two years before returning home and eventually made Madison County, Alabama, their home.

Buster worked for many years with the United States Postal Service,but his greatest joys in life were found not in his work, but in his family and in the many people whose lives he touched along the way.

To some in his family, he was known as Bob or Bobby, but to countless people throughout Madison County, he was simply Buster . For decades, ball fields and gymnasiums became a familiar part of his life.He spent many days and evenings at youth ballparks watching his children play and later became a well-known and busy umpire for youth baseball and softball, as well as adult softball leagues.

Then came perhaps his favorite title of all: PaPa.

Being a grandfather was a role Buster cherished. If you saw him over the years, chances were good that he was at a sporting or school event watching one of his six grandchildren. If he wasn’t there, you might have run into Buster and Geri at one of the local Rosie’s Cantinas, their favorite place to eat.

Buster will also be remembered as a talented woodworker. He spent much of his life building things for friends and family. There are many pieces of furniture, along with handmade Christmas decorations, in homes throughout Meridianville. He didn’t seek attention or recognition, but his steady presence, kindness, love for his family, and willingness to serve others left a lasting impression on those who knew him. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geri Crabb; his parents,O. H. and Lillie Mae Crabb; his sisters, Martha Roach, Nadine Whittenbarger, and Dorothy Francis Crabb; and his brother, Charles Crabb.

He is survived by his children, Ronda Elliott (Billy) and Kevin Crabb (Shannon) ; his sister, Mary Baker ; his brothers, Roy Crabb (Connie)and Luther Crabb (Julie) ; his grandchildren, Loren Elliott, Claire Beck (Jordan), Catherine Huey (Alex), Madelyn Crabb, Mallory Elliott, and Caroline Crabb ; his great-grandson, Brooks Huey ; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Buster leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, service, and love.Though deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he has finished his earthly journey and is now home with his Lord and reunited with his beloved Geri. 

Visitation will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home on Thursday, October 1st from 12:00 - 2:00 pm with a service afterwards in the Chapel at 2:00; Burial to follow at Valhalla.
