Robert Hume, 76, died in his sleep at home on Monday, August 4, 2025 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Mr. Hume was born in Seattle, Washington, and came to Madison County in 2004 from Sunnyvale, California.  He retired from ADTRAN in Huntsville in 2018. He was a valued employee in the Operations/ Manufacturing Division.  Bob, a Veteran, served honorably in the USAF stationed in Belgium and Beale AFB in Yuba County, California.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents David R. Hume and Katherine Anna (Pysz) Hume, daughter Janice Marie Shackelford, brother Lloyd S. Hume and sister Bernice K Moody.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Shauna L. Hume and nieces Noel K. McLain, Rebekah V. Raddon, and nephew Jason D. Hume and 7 grandchildren: Christopher Shackelford; Kimberly Shackelford; Justin Aycock; Kayla Renee Hume; Alexis Potts; Haley Murry; Cody Simerley; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Bob was a kind and caring soul who will be missed and remembered with great affection.

Visitation will begin at at 3:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, at Berryhill Funeral Home, 2305 Memorial Parkway NW, Huntsville, AL 35810
