Obituary

Robert Nathan Wilbanks peacefully passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loved ones.

He took great pride in his landscaping and yard work, always finding joy in creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces. He earned an associate degree in Occupational Computer-Aided Drafting and Design, reflecting both his technical skill and creative mind. Before retiring, he worked for Wilbanks Land Surveying and also owned his own percolation test business.

He was a deeply creative individual who enjoyed drawing and making artwork from unusual objects. His many interests included coin collecting, rocket building, reading, rock collecting, and studying history. He had a curious spirit and a passion for learning that stayed with him throughout his life.

Preceded in Death By: His parents, Naomi and Millard Wilbanks; his brothers, Johnnie Wilbanks and Phillip Wilbanks; and his sister, Debra Demeree.

Survived By: His daughters, Robin Rector and Merrie Lally; his granddaughter, Emma Lally; his sisters, Patricia Bullington and Juanita Pettey; his brother, David (Moose) Wilbanks; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He will be remembered for his creativity, dedication, and the love he shared with his family. He was mostly known for his sense of humor and the joy he brought to others—everyone who knew him carries a favorite funny story or memory that reflects his wit and personality.

In accordance with his wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. He will be cremated, and his ashes will be spread in a creek among the rocks during a private service.
