Robert Leland Smith Jr., affectionately known as "Rolly" to most, passed away after a short illness on September 7, 2025, in Huntsville, Alabama, at the age of 68.

Born on March 4, 1957, in Huntsville, Robert spent his life rooted in the community where he was born. Over the years, he became a familiar and cherished presence to those who knew him. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church and worked there many years. Known for his unique spirit and enduring connections with family and friends, Rolly held a special place in many hearts.

He is survived by his sister Anna Oswald, her husband Mark, and their children Shannon (Addyson and Izayah) and Charles (Belaire). His nephew Charles Smith and wife Margarete continue his legacy through their children Clayton, Abigail, and Peter. His niece Carolyn Ponce and her husband Dario also carry forward his memory alongside their daughter Marieliz.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Helen Fuchtman, and his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Ann Smith.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11 at 5:00 - 6:30 pm at Berryhill Funeral Home. Rosary following. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 12 at 10:00 am at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church.
