On August 15, 2026, the world lost an incredibly strong soul. Ronnie "Wayne" Groves, known to many as "Butch Keaton" passed away at age 81. 

Born in Fayette County West Virginia on September 19, 1944, Wayne lived a full life marked by hard work, an adventurous spirit, and an unbreakable will. He graduated from Dixie Hollins High School in Saint Petersburg, Florida in 1962. Wayne was a family man who spent most of his career in the grocery business, working tirelessly to provide for them. His life was an adventure that spanned West Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama. An outdoorsman at heart, Wayne enjoyed boating, deep-sea fishing, hunting, and storytelling. He loved college football, especially when Alabama played. He passed peacefully at his home in Skyline, Alabama, with family by his side. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Ann Keaton; his parents, John and Corinne Guss; his brother, David Guss; and his granddaughter, Tessa Groves. Wayne's memory will be forever treasured by his children, Bonnie, Danny, Sara, and Darryn Groves; his grandchildren, Lacy Groves, Megan (Larry) Stewart, Cody (Sashia) Groves, and Brendan Groves; and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother, John (Deborah) Guss; sister-in-law, Linn Guss; and nephews, Matthew and Anthony Guss. 

He bravely battled cancer and other chronic health issues while remaining devoted to his family and never losing his sense of humor. We find peace in knowing that he is finally free, resting in the arms of our Lord. His memory will live in our hearts forever.
