Roscoe F.
Bertus, Jr.
March 14, 1950 – June 3, 2025
Roscoe F. Bertus, Jr., 75, passed away after an extended illness on June 03, 2025.
He was born on March 14, 1950, in Madison County to Roscoe F. Bertus, Sr., and Derial McAnally Bertus.
Along with his parents, Roscoe was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Kay Bertus McAnally; his brothers, Charles and RC Bertus; three nephews, Jerry Wayne McAnally, Jr., Timothy Bertus, and Keith Bertus, Jr.; along with his beloved fur babies, Casey and Molly, who he loved with all his heart.
Roscoe is survived by his loving wife, Jana Howard Bertus; loving daughter, Stacey Lynn Thomas (Eddie); 2 grandchildren, Kourtney Hindman (Joe) and Taylor Fulmer (Kylie); 6 great-grandchildren, Nora, Cohen, Jase, Maelynn, Victoria, and Hayes; brother, Keith Bertus (late Cathy Bertus); sister-in-law, Janie Bertus; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Roscoe grew up in the Merrimack Mill Village and attended Joe Bradley and Butler High School. He was a police officer for the city of Huntsville and was a deputy for the Madison County Sheriff's Department. He worked private security for Colonel Tom Parker and Elvis Presley in Huntsville and Nashville. He also worked at Woody Anderson Ford and was a screen printer, and most recently at Oxford Properties as a Courtesy Officer for many years. Roscoe loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was the life of the party wherever he went. He loved to pull practical jokes very often on his wife.
Roscoe was affectionately known as "PePaw" by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and "Junebug" by his nieces and nephews. His passions included baseball, softball, vintage baseball, fishing, hunting, and Alabama football. He also loved watching his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews play sports. Roscoe was a Christian and a member of the Union Grove Baptist Church.
He doted on children and animals. Per Roscoe's wish, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or any no-kill animal shelters.
